The meaning of the Our Father goes much further than the mere provision of a prayer text. It aims to form our being, to train us in the inner attitude of Jesus. (Pope Benedict XVI)
Our Father:
Our: not just Catholics or Christians, but everyone whether a belivers in Christ or not
Father: spiritual source of power (that guide one's life to produce positive results and annoint the experience of spiritual gifts, ie. beatific vision),
- God (the eternal, supreme being/force/Spirit who created and preserves all things)
-Trinity where the Father is personal, with a will and personality; Sons (my view) as being all of humanity (children); and Holy Spirit
Who Art in Heaven:
Who: person/personal
Heaven: paradise (return to the garden and walking with God)
- holy/wholly/pure,
- perfection/completion of the growing/evoling process,
- blissful state of consciousness, beatific vision (joy, happiness coming from seeing God finally face to face and not imperfectly through faith) to enjoy the delights of paradise and possess the splendour of God/universe/reality
Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread:
Thank you for giving us this day (our life and higher consciousness) to glorify You and to be grateful,
for our daily needs that substain and nurture us,
not only physically, but mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
For Thy Is the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory:
For your suffering/sacrifical/unconditional love is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, now and for ever. Amen.
